| The Juliusspital does not only produce fine wines, it also takes its social responsibilities seriously. The wine estate and its proceeds belong to the "Juliusspital" charitable foundation, which was established in 1576 by Julius Echter of Mespelbrunn, prince bishop of Wurzburg. On the completion of the original building he declared in the foundation charter the task of to be the care for "every kind of sick and poor who require care or treatment, and traveling pilgrims and village people" |
